Opportunity:
Client wanted to deploy thin client at counters, due to the various issues faced, which are common with desktop computers. As one single application is required for most of the users to run and do the assigned tasks.
Challenges:
- Highly secured & lower maintenance client required for users to enable lesser downtime in terms of hardware & software compared to a regular desktop.
- Must be easily Manageable from remote to reduce the IT support calls and to reduce the Client down time due to mundane issues.
- Easy to Implement, Configuring & troubleshoot.
- Data security (Highly confidential information which should not be allowed to taken away from DM office premises).
- Low footprint to ensure minimum physical space required, since office has limited table space.
Server, Data Base, Application & other details:
- RTO uses NIC SERVER and state Data Centre
- Server OS – Windows 2012 Server
- Database Oracle 10g
- Client Application: Mundane
Requirements:
- NIC’s VAHAN application runs on Chrome Browser.
- SARATHI client-side application to be loaded locally on to the flash since it is an Oracle form.
- Laser printers are used for taking different type of print outs
- Dot Matrix Printer used for receipt printing.
- Client to be used in class room for New Learners etc.

Configuration:
- Operating System – WES 7
- Software – Google Chrome Browser, OpenOffice, Acrobat Reader
- Hardware- 1.8 Ghz Dual Core processor, 4 GB RAM, 8GB FLASH,6 USB ports, one Parallel printer Port, Serial Port etc.
By deploying Breeze thin client following objectives were achieved in addition overcoming all the challenges mentioned above –
- As the thin clients are without any moving part, the maintenance is very low compared to regular desktop
- The OS & software’s are stored in Flash drive which ensured faster speed
- With write protection mode on, no unauthorized access to OS and prevent loading of unwanted packages by the user and fiddling with configuration etc.
- Write protection protect from viruses and malware attacks
- Consumes ¼ power compared to a regular desktop, ensuring Hugh savings on power bills
